The vice general manager of the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) and the jumbo jet’s chief designer, Wu Guanghui, said that sales of the homegrown C919 jumbo jets are estimated to hit 2,000 units over the coming twenty years, reported Xinhua News. Guanghui said that orders for the C919 increased in 2011 in addition to the 100 already ordered by Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines and General Electric’s leasing arm. According to Guanghui, the increasing income of the Chinese people along with faster travel requirements are expected to raise the country’s demand C919 jumbo jets to 2,300 to 2,700 during the next 2 decades. Sales of the C919 are predicted to amount to 2,000 by 2030, compared with the forcasted global market demand of 20,000.
